Great Bedwyn CE Primary School, rated as ‘Outstanding’ in its latest OFSTED has become the latest school to join the Excalibur Academies Trust.
Nicola Williams, Principal of Great Bedwyn CE Primary School, said, “Having undertaken considerable research, the Governors and I believe that joining Excalibur offers Great Bedwyn the opportunity to become part of a forward thinking multi academy trust that will enable us to continue to provide an exceptional educational experience for our pupils and development opportunities for our staff.”
Dr Patrick Hazlewood CEO of Excalibur Academies Trust explained, “Excalibur Academies Trust was formed on 1st September 2012 in order to create an exceptional collection of forward-thinking schools with the young person at the heart of everything we do.”

Great Bedwyn CE Primary School is rated outstanding by Ofsted and has 212 pupils on roll, aged 4-11. The majority of pupils move to St John’s Marlborough or John O’Gaunt for secondary school.
Welcoming Great Bedwyn into the trust at a special assembly Dr Hazlewood told the pupils,“Joining the Excalibur family is all about giving you the best education you can have. We want you to become people who are going to change the world for the better, to be resilient, possess problem solving skills and to be compassionate.”
