Under a clear blue sky Marlborough's John Carroll put in a match winning performance with both bat and ball as Marlborough earned a shock win at league leaders Great Bedwyn on Saturday (11th Aug).

Winning the toss and batting first, Bedwyn's Rob Palmer 71, Jon Palmer 69 and Max Andrews 29 helped the home team to 225-9 off their 50 overs with Carroll starring for Marlborough taking 5-42 supported by Will Langton's 2-32.

Carroll then opened the batting for Marlborough scoring a brilliant 107 as he and Tom Norris 73 not out helped Marlborough reach their victory target in the 45th over to further ease the relegation worries of the Savernake Forest outfit.

Marlborough skipper Nick Crabbe was delighted with the win "John was superb with bat and ball, he's a class act and Tom also batted really well".
