Cricket: Marlborough record a comfortable victory at Winsley to finish the season's away fixtures

Marlborough's final away game of the season ended in a comprehensive victory for the Savernake forest based outfit at Winsley.  

After winning the toss and deciding to bat first Marlborough skipper Tom Norris 38 and fellow opener Ben Head 40 set the tone with an impressive start to the innings and with middle order star Peter Day adding 51 and youngster Joe Arkwright hitting an aggressive 22 Marlborough reached a commanding 245-8 off their 50 overs.

In reply Winsley crumbled to 86 all out with Marlborough spin pair Head 3-17 and Ed Rothwell 4-24 taking the bulk of the Winsley wickets with seamers Alex Cox 1-33 and Will Langton 2-10 taking the other wickets for the visitors.

Marlborough Skipper Norris was a pleased man "Our openers started well finished off by Peter Day and Arkwright. Langton and Cox set the tone bowling wise and Rothwell and Head cleaned up the tail. A very professional job to finish our away campaign".
