Swindon Spitfires 6 Marlborough Town Ladies 3
Marlborough Town Ladies struggled in a 6-3 defeat against old rivals Swindon Spitfires on Sunday.
They began well, but were unable to maintain focus and discipline for the full 90 minutes.
Against a team as well-experienced as Spitfires, this cost them goals and ultimately, the game.
Despite the loss, there was some positive play from the ladies.
It was only a couple of minutes into the game when Dani Hull made a run down the left wing and scored.
Marlborough were spurred on by their early goal and played great football for the next twenty minutes. Unfortunately, a couple moments of tiredness and lack of concentration, resulted in two goals from the Spitfires, before the half was up.
Marlborough had a huge mountain to climb.
They worked hard and managed two great goals from Emily Bogg and Ffion Williams, but they couldn’t bring the game back.
Marlborough’s goalie, Robyn Hill, worked tirelessly to keep the Swindon strikers at bay. She made some amazing saves but was unable to stop all of the shots on target.
In the end, Swindon won the game with six skilful and well-worked goals.
