Marlborough Town Ladies FC started the new season off with a flurry of goals in a good performance against Trowbridge Wanderers Ladies FC.

Marlborough started the game with quick passing attacks from the wing and just two minutes in to the game Abbii Demir got herself in to a fantastic position in the box from a fabulous cross from Kerry Ash but was unfortunate to just miss the target.

Only a minute later Emily Sparks took a free kick from just inside the Marlborough half which Ffion Williams pounced on and slotted in to the goal for the opening goal of the season.

This was quickly followed in the fifth minute with some fantastic interplay passing between Ffion and Sarah Thomas leading to a solid strike from Sarah and the second goal in to the right corner beyond the keeper.

The attacks down the right wing continued with good passing and Kerry showing pace and skill to take on the defence on the right wing and swinging in some lovely crosses in to the box.

In the eighteenth minute this paid off with the ball coming back out to Ffion outside the box. Ffion didn't hesitate in sticking her foot through it towards goal. The ball took a deflection off the defender and loop over the stretching keeper and under the crossbar for goal number three.

On twenty five minutes Kerry became the third scorer for the team for Marlborough's fourth goal with a superbly placed free kick just outside the box that she loop over the wall and tucked just under the crossbar.

Throughout the first half, Marlborough were attacking and clearly frustrating the Trowbridge players. Marlborough were only troubled in defence with one of Trowbridge Wanderers pacy forwards trying to split the defence, but Marlborough remained a well organised group, continually forcing the offside.

Trowbridge Wanderers came out stronger in the second half with more of a challenge on the Marlborough defence and keeping the Marlborough attacks out.

However, the goals continued 12 minutes in to the second half with Sarah Thomas again picking the ball up outside the box and curling a terrific right footed swerving ball in to the top right corner of the goal to make the goal tally five for Marlborough.

Trowbridge continued to press the defence in the scrappy second half. Some brave and quick goalkeeping from Danni Hull was needed to keep Trowbridge off the score sheet.

On several occasions Danni rushed bravely and quickly out of the goal to close the attackers down after Trowbridge split Marlborough's defence and created one on one attacks against the keeper.

Danni was helped by the defence who continued to work hard to keep Trowbridge out and leave Marlborough with a clean sheet and a final score of 5-0.
