Danny Kruger – Conservative
I was brought up in the rural South West and I love the landscape of the North Wessex Downs. More importantly, I know that people who live here have an incredibly strong sense of community.
Every day I discover another amazing local charity or community business or volunteer project. This gives me confidence that the deep social problems our area faces – challenges for young people leaving schools without the skills they need; the plight of older people struggling to get medical or social care; families living in poverty – can be tackled by a combination of good government, national and local, and community effort.
My background is a combination of government and community work. Most recently I was a civil servant and then, for Boris Johnson’s first (I hope!) term as PM, his Political Secretary in No 10. Before that I spent over 10 years running a charity working in prisons and with ex-offenders and young people at risk. So I have worked both at the national level but also right at the grass-roots, tackling some of the most entrenched social issues our country faces. I have also learned what it means to manage an organisation – juggling P&L, payroll, tax and regulations – so I can empathise with small businesses struggling to survive and create jobs.
As a Conservative, I am 100% behind our farmers and everyone involved in protecting this beautiful and historic part of England. I would also be enormously proud to serve as MP for the area which is the home of the British Army and would do everything in my power to promote the welfare of our troops. .
