Two friends, an MP and the Big Bike Ride for Prospect Hospice – and lots more cyclists, please
Tony Millett - 22/06/2011Sunday, July 17 will be a big day for local cyclists as they take part in Prospect Hospice’s Big Bike Ride.

Joining riders taking either the fifteen kilometre family route or the fifty kilometre route for more experienced cyclists, will be Claire Perry MP and her family. Also joining the ride will be friends Gareth Ockendon and John O’Reilly. They’re cycling the longer route in memory of Gareth’s mother Ann Ockendon who was cared for by Prospect Hospice last June.
Ride organiser, Becky Gammon, says the 50 kilometre route is over varied terrain so participants will need a bike with off-road capability. It will take cyclists past Barbury castle, through the Ogbournes to Marlborough, before circling back to Wroughton via Mildehall and the old Marlborough & Chiseldon railway path.
Each year the Hospice needs five million pounds for its care and services within the community, seventy per cent of which it has to raise itself.
If you’re interested in taking part in Prospect Hospice’s Big Bike Ride, contact Becky Gammon on 01793 816161 or email fundraising&events@prospect-hospice.net
