Remembrance Commemoration at 7th Wilts War Memorial in Salisbury Road and at Marlborough's Cemeteries

Earlier today (Friday 9 November) the Town Council and members of 4MI Batallion based in Bullford layed wreaths of commemoration at the 7th Wilts Memorial at the junction of Salisbury Road and London Road.

 

Thankfully the morning's rain had relented by the time the party, led by the Colours of the Marlborough British Legion, marched St Margarets Mead and along London Road from the Youth and Community Centre.

 

Wreaths were laid by the Mayor, Lt Col Simpon Puxley, Commanding Officer of 4MI Batallion, Wiltshire Councillor Stewart Dobson, St John's Head Boy and Head Girl Jack Gay and Ellie Slater,  and former Town Councillor Alec Light.

 

The Mayor, Deputy Mayor Mervyn Hall, Councillor Harry Forbes and the 4MI Batallion representatives led by Lt Col Simon Puxley then visited Marlborough's two Cemetries - the current Cemetery and the older Victorian Cemetery to lay wreaths on the graves of fallen soldiers.
