1918 - the last year of the 'Great War': Marlborough LitFest guest tells its story in the words of those who fought

Perhaps the most timely event of Marlborough LitFest 2018 (27-30 September) will be the talk by Peter Hart (above) about his book book The Last Battle - Endgame on the Western Front, 1918.  This tells the story of the First World War's last ten months mainly through the words of those who fought through them. 


Marlborough historian David Du Croz has written for marlborough.news an introduction to this important LitFest event - emphasising the cost of 1918's fighting to men from Marlborough College and from the Parish of St Peter.  As he points out Peter Hart's talk will take place one hundred years and a day after the German decision to sue for peace.
