Marlborough’s success in this year’s South West in Bloom competition will be determined tomorrow (Tuesday 23 July) when the panel of RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) judges, accompanied by Lady Emma Fellowes, patron of SWiB, decends on the town to cast keen and experienced eyes over overall the floral excellence of this year’s displays as well as the many individual ‘In Your Neighbourhood’ entries.
The weather looks set to help the town look at its best with a bright sunny day forecast and the mercury rising to 30 degrees plus in the afternoon. The final litter-pick is being carried out today with Marlborough’s Scouts helping make to make sure that no stray bits of rubbish make the judges route appear less than perfect.
The tour starts at 11am, preceded by a presentation from the MiB team in the Town Hall, following which the group of judges will set off on the two hour walk around Marlborough followed by lunch at the Savernake View care home.
The afternoon will be taken up with a programme of visits to all the ‘In Your Neighbourhood’ entries, concluding at 4:30pm for refreshments back at the Town Hall where everyone can see a display of pics taken at stages through the year of the ‘In Your Neighbourhood’ projects, showing the progress of each.
Then, all quiet until the results are announced in October.
