Sizing Tennessee - with Tom Scudamore - winning the 2018 Ladbrokes TrophySizing Tennessee - with Tom Scudamore - winning the 2018 Ladbrokes TrophyA larger than expected number people entered our marlborough.news and marlboroughequestrian.news competition for five FREE pairs of tickets for the Ladbrokes Trophy day of Newbury Racecourse's Ladbrokes Winter Carnival.  We now have five worthy winners drawn from a very large hat.

The winners are Amanda Gosse, Andrew Plank, Roanna Scouse, Simon De Angeli and Sean Grace.

Ninety-six per cent of the participants gave the correct answers to our very straightforward questions:

1.  Smad Place, the 2015 winner of the then Hennessy Gold Cup, was, of course, trained by Alan King at Barbury Castle.

2.  It was Lambourn's Nicky Henderson who trained back-to-back winners of the race between 2015 & 2015 - in fact in 2012 and 2013 with Bobs Worth and Triolo D'Arlene - both ridden by Barry Geraghty.

We trust the winners will enjoy a day of great racing on Saturday, November 30.  And we hope that all those who entered will continue to read the website...and remember that we are always open to story ideas and information - and notices of events for our What's On calendars.

Many thanks to Newbury Racecourse for the tickets.
