Revamped Play Area for Manton's Jubilee Field gets go-ahead

Layout of the soon-to-be revamped Play Area in Manton's Jubilee FieldLayout of the soon-to-be revamped Play Area in Manton's Jubilee FieldCouncillors agreed by unanimous vote that the revamped play area in Manton's Jubilee Field is to go ahead at Monday (20 January) evening's Town Council meeting.

The decision had been deferred from the last meeting of the full Town Council as there had been debate regarding layout and siting of some specific items, but all issues were discussed and resolved at a subsequent site meeting.

Agreement on Monday was unanimous and Councillors, Manton Residents, and the Residents Association were united in thanking - and acknowledging the efforts of - Manton Community Outdoors, the group of local self proclaimed 'working mums' who inspired the idea of a new Play Area, raised all the funds and drove the project from vision to reality.

The discussion regarding items centred particularly on the installation of a Zip Wire which, whilst very popular with the (young) potential users would have cut the field in half as there was only one area where it could have been sited, due to the layout of the field and presence of busied oil pipelines.

The Zip Wire had to be abandoned but the final layout will be as pictured above.
