Storm Dennis has left its mark on Marlborough with the River Kennet having burst its banks in several places in the town flooding key water meadows such as Coopers Meadow and Stonebridge.
Marlborough Town Council have shut Cooper’s Meadow today, Monday February 17, as floods from the Kennet have made the footpath impassable. Residents at Town Mill are practically marooned. The noise from the river is deafening.
The Priory Gardens is currently open but river levels are being monitored.
At Stonebridge Nature Reserve the meadows are flooded together with the small access beach. The board walk is currently only a few centimetres above the water.
If anyone is missing a green wheelie bin there is one in the Kennet near Churchill Court, courtesy of Dennis. But there will be no chance of recovering it until water levels drop.
