‘When you feel a bit down, just think of something to make you smile’ – Marlborough St Mary’s pupils offer advice to care-home residents and to us all

Year 2 pupils at Marlborough St Mary's who wrote to residents in local care homesYear 2 pupils at Marlborough St Mary's who wrote to residents in local care homesMarlborough St Mary’s Year 2 pupils, aged six and seven, have sent letters, poems, stories and drawings to the residents of all the local care-homes.

Year 2 teachers, Lucy Pash and Bea Knowles, said, “We wanted to show the residents that Year 2 are thinking of them in these challenging times and we hope that the children’s work will keep spirits high and spread some love, happiness and best wishes.

“Some of them are so sweet and wise that it brought tears to our eyes. We hope they bring love and comfort to others in these surreal times.”

Here are some extracts from the children’s work:

Dear Resident

Please don’t be worried about the news if you are this will hopefully make you better.

Relax feel calm and don’t be worried about anything and when you feel a bit down just think of something that makes you smile. Be happy and never forget you are loved more than anything…

If you need peace have a little sleep, dream big and have happy thoughts. I always say life is one big adventure just like your dreams and a bit like your family. Don’t be sad just be happy.

Dear Resident

I’m just writing to you. To make you feel better I made a funny story…

Once upon a time there was a very smart boy who went to a school and there was a smart girl. When they looked eye to eye they fell in love. So each day they went to each others secret lab. So one day the girl went to the boy’s lab and they were planning to have a wedding but there was one problem. And that problem was a virus. So they used a shrinking device.

Zap they shrank so off they runned to the forest and there the virus was and they battled. And the battle began but before the two could battle the virus zapped them with an electric gun Zap. But they were still alive because their love was too strong. They beaten up the virus they turned back to normal size and they married. The end. I hope I cheered you up.

Dear Resident

I know and you probably know Spring is coming and you can enjoy the spring with those big windows. All the nice flowers in colours galore and nice grass the town exploding with colour nice warm hear and nice green lush trees and blossom everywhere.
