Encouragement for actual classroom experience - paid teaching internships at St John’s Marlborough

The Teaching School at St John’s has been awarded Department of Education funding to offer four week teaching internships paying £300 per week.

The programme, based at St John’s from 17 June – 12 July, is targeting current second/third year undergraduates who are studying Maths, Physics or Engineering.  Applications from students studying other Science or Technology subjects will also be considered.

Students accepted onto the programme will spend four weeks at St John’s gaining valuable work experiences.  They will be involved in running research and development projects and will develop their presentation and communication skills.  In addition to learning about the role of the teacher in a secondary school there will be a chance to network with professionals.

Laura Reid is the Excalibur Teaching School Director:  We already run a successful teacher training programme at St. John’s, and are delighted to have now been awarded funding for paid teaching internships this summer.”

“Our exciting four-week programme will give undergraduates a taste of life as a secondary school teacher, as well as an opportunity to gain valuable research experience, and we hope that our interns will consider teaching as a career option once they graduate.”

“We have a limited number of places available and are accepting applications now.”
