We have received the following plea for help from someone who was passing through Wiltshire and whose car was broken into and who needs stolen articles returned:
Twenty minutes parked just above the White Horse at Pewsey Hill at 6.30pm on Sunday, April 28 was long enough for someone to smash a car window and make off with a backpack.
The contents of the backpack are fairly worthless to anyone but the owner for whom the MacBook Pro computer and three hard drives that it held are of inestimable value. They contain the fruits of two years work on a non-profit cultural project in collaboration with five small cultural organisations across Europe.
The owner is resident in France and was simply passing through Wiltshire to visit family. Much of the data is in French. Printed papers in the backpack include medical and accounting documents, also in French.
The hard drives are portable 1 and 2TB Transcend and Western Digital drives. The MacBook itself can be distinguished by its wear and tear: two ‘feet’ are missing, the surface of the screen has a factory fault, appearing to have peeled off or become stained and dirty.
The black backpack is made by Pulse – it also held a Kindle with charging cover.
The images, texts, research and film rushes from this project, as well as personal writings on the hardware, represent an enormous amount of work – and I need them back.
Any relevant information from anyone in the area at the time would be welcome. Did anyone see a vehicle or persons beside a blue-grey VW Golf Estate (10 years old) – pictured below – with French number plates parked on Pewsey Hill last Sunday evening?
