Reminder: last chance to comment

Written by Tony Millett on .

As things stand, Thursday, October 17 is the last chance for people to comment on plans for the housing development on former amenity land off Rabley Wood View.

The planning process has reached an advanced stage - and there is no place for public participation on such matters as the final conditions placed on the developers.

However, residents are calling for an extension of this deadline as major details of the development plans are still being withheld and the overall design and layout plans have not been public for very long.  Some required documents are still outstanding.

The main issues in this application refer to the conditions placed on the development by the Planning Inspector.  These conditions are not only about details, but about basic issues that still remain unclear and are central to the scheme.

For example the Inspector wrote: "A condition is necessary specifying the minimum size of the replacement POS [Public Open Space] because the proposal would otherwise be unacceptable. A Construction Method Statement is necessary in order to minimise construction impact on neighbouring residents’ living conditions."

And while awaiting clarifications, Wiltshire Council's planning department have been asked to extend the deadline for public consultation.
