Pewsey Vale School student’s art work chosen for Royal Academy Young Artists Summer ShowAn art work produced by Jessica Blundell, a GCSE Textiles student at Pewsey Vale School has been chosen to be exhibited in the first ever Young Artists Summer Show at the Royal Academy in London.
Jessica’s work, ‘Underground’ is one of only one hundred and thirty-nine works selected from over six thousand, two hundred entries. ‘Underground’ is a sheer organza and textile work.
Nina Slater, Head of Art at Pewsey Vale Schoo saidl: “On Saturday July 13, I attended the opening, to view Jessica’s sheer organza and stitched textile work, ‘Underground’. It was fabulous to see such a variety and the high calibre of artwork on display.”
“We are very proud as a school to have the work exhibited, and hope to enter a few more of the students’ artwork next year. The exhibition is on until August 4 at the Royal Academy, and until December 31 online.”
Young Artists Summer Show is inspired by the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition and aims to celebrate young artists at primary and secondary school level. Prizes will be awarded by the President of the Royal Academy, Christopher le Brun, for two inspiring artworks from each Key Stage. Students will receive vouchers for art materials plus a free practical workshop for their school.
There will also be a People’s Choice award, where members of the public can vote for their favourite artwork. The winner will receive the same prizes. To find out more and to vote, go to https://youngartists.royalacademy.org.uk/
