Ramsbury pupils prepare for Sport Relief with Paralympian Jack Rutter

Jack Rutter paralympian at Ramsbury SchoolJack Rutter paralympian at Ramsbury SchoolTop athlete, Jack Rutter, visited Ramsbury Primary School on Thursday March 5.  Jack led a sponsored fitness circuit with all the pupils to help raise funds for Sport Relief.  He also spoke to the whole school about his sporting experiences.

Jack Rutter is a GB Paralympic Footballer who was captain of the GB cerebral palsy team.  He was on track to become a professional footballer with Birmingham City when he suffered brain damage.  He captained the GB cerebral palsy team at the Paralympic Games in Rio 2016.  He now works with Sports for Schools to inspire children to take part in different sports, believe in themselves and be their very best in everything they do.

Once everyone (teachers and children) had finished their fitness circuit, all of the children joined Jack in the hall to listen to him speak about his sporting achievements and to ask him questions. Bella in Class 5 said, “I think it’s inspiring that he had a serious injury and he worked so hard to become a Paralympian.  I liked the exercises he did and he inspired me to work hard”.

The sponsored event was organised via Sport for Schools - www.sportsforschools.org

Exercise and participation are a central part of every day school life at Ramsbury Primary, which holds the title of top-performing school in sport for Wiltshire and Swindon and the prestigious Platinum School Games Mark.
