The Ladies Veterans team wanted to get back together for one last 'hoorah', and decided that taking on the next generation (i.e. the current Ladies team) would be the best way to do it.

At the same time they wanted to use this as a way of generating funds for a charity that people surrounding the football club - players, committee members, fans etc. - could relate to, which was Macmillan Cancer Support as this condition affects so many people and families.

The Marlborough committee of Macmillan Cancer Support thanked the club and the teams:  “We would like to thank the Marlborough Town Football Club ladies teams for organising a great fundraiser for Macmillan, everyone who came had a wonderful time and a fantastic amount of money was raised to help people living with cancer in Wiltshire“.

Marlborough Ladies veterans captain, Angie Francis added: “It was great all of us getting back together and meeting the new players.  Training was hard but it was worth it for this great charity”.

The organisation of the match and all events were put together almost singlehandedly by Becky Deane and the managers of both the current Ladies and Veterans teams were keen, on behalf of their teams to give her a special mention of thanks.
