MYFC 'Angels': The story (so far....)

The Angels squad as it currently is  (pic:  Anna Whitehead)The Angels squad as it currently is (pic: Anna Whitehead)The girls football section of Marlborough Youth FC (MYFC ‘Angels’) began in the Spring of 2014.  It started when Natalie Davidson asked her Dad (Jon Davidson) if they could set up a girls football team.  Jon was already a volunteer at MYFC so just one week later, Natalie and her Year 6 friends attended the first ‘girls only’ football session in College fields in Marlborough.  The Angels were born!

Second Defibrillator arranged and installed by Marlborough Youth Football Club at the Bowls Club

New North Wilts Youth League Division 2  Champions - MYFC U14 MavericksNew North Wilts Youth League Division 2 Champions - MYFC U14 MavericksThere were scenes of wiild jubilation recently as Marlborough Youth FC U14 secured their first  league championship.  Marlborough Youth U14 Mavericks became the North Wilts Youth League Division 2  Champions on Sunday 10 March  with a 1- 1 draw away at AFC Newbury.

Georgia Galley and Reggie Price, voted Marlborough Youth FC's two Players of The YearGeorgia Galley and Reggie Price, voted Marlborough Youth FC's two Players of The YearMarlborough Youth Football Club have just announced the two winners of their 'Player of The Year' votes.  Reggie Price, who was in last year's U6 squad was voted 'Player of The Year' in the Public vote, whilst Georgia Galley, a member of the MYFC Angels U12 Foxes team won the Club vote.

Foxes see Lionesses close up at Swindon's County Ground

Marlborough's U12 Angels being inteviewed at The Country Ground on Sky NewsMarlborough's U12 Angels being inteviewed at The Country Ground on Sky NewsTue 9 April was a very special evening and one to remember for many young girls in Wiltshire.  England's Lionesses notched up an important 2-0 win against Spain at Swindon Town FC's County Ground, and the FA kindly made the game extra special for six MYFC Angels (U12 Foxes) who were able to go onto the pitch as half time entertainment along with Swindon Spitfires.  If this wasn’t enough, before the match they were interviewed live on the TV... .

Kevin Palmer of the Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Martial Arts and Self Defence School declares the new Difbrillator open for use, supported by (l-r) Marlborough Town Chair Wally Ash, MYFC coach Keith Marshall, MYFC U14 Colts player Will Slater and MYFC Chair Stuart SlaterKevin Palmer of the Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Martial Arts and Self Defence School declares the new Difbrillator open for use, supported by (l-r) Marlborough Town Chair Wally Ash, MYFC coach Keith Marshall, MYFC U14 Colts player Will Slater and MYFC Chair Stuart SlaterLast week a new Community Defibrillator was officially launched at the Elcot Lane clubhouse of Marlborough Town FC which is now shared by the Marlborough Youth Football Club.  Heart issues for all participating in foorball - playing, training, or even watching is now widely recognised as a potential problem following several high profile incidents and the addition of the defibrillator will offer immediate assistance to anyone suffering a heart attack and increasing the chances of survival and recovery as quick response is one of the key factors.

2018 RAMMAR tournament at MTFC's Elcot Lane Ground - a great success, even the weather!

 

Marlborough Youth FC ( MYFC) hosted the annual RAMMAR (RAMsbury & MARlborough) tournament against Ramsbury FC in glorious sunshine on Sunday 3 June

 

Forty four teams totallimng 270 players took part across over eighty matches in what was a feast of football in front of a crowd estimated to be well over five hundred, all enjoying the football and the fine weather.   World Cup - move over.....!

Goodbye MYFC U18’s – the end of an era!

MYFC U18 teamMYFC U18 teamMYFC U18's have reached the end of their youth football days!  The team has been together since U7’s and for 11 years have progressed through all the successive age groups, now the first MYFC youth squad to have graduated to senior football with MTFC.  (As a parting gift they managed an excellent cup run - semi-final of the County Cup - and also won their league!)
