Chilton Foliat Primary School purchases cutting-edge IT equipment
Chilton Foliat Primary School has purchased a range of new, cutting-edge IT equipment for each of its classrooms to ensure that its facilities are above and beyond the current Government guidelines.
The new IT equipment, which includes laptops, chrome books and touchscreen ‘whiteboard’ monitors for each classroom, were purchased following extensive fundraising during the last academic year which saw the Friends of Chilton Foliat Primary School raise an impressive £6,500 for the school through its many events. It is hoped that the new equipment will help inspire class interaction and knowledge sharing and make lessons more exciting, as well as provide the pupils with up-to-date tools for the computing curriculum.
“Our Friends group works really hard to stage exciting and inspiring events throughout the year that not only create memories for the children but also raise an enormous amount of money to help enhance the school environment,” comments Denise Weston, head teacher at Chilton Foliat Primary School. “We are absolutely delighted with the new IT equipment which will help encourage class interaction and ensure that our children find learning fun.”
Some thoughts on the new laptops and chrome books from the children include:
Charlie: “It’s technology and children love technology.”
Lilyanna: “It’s gives us extra help and you can challenge yourself.”
Ollie: “It’s awesome because the laptops and chrome books are small and light, not heavy.”
The children also love the new large and interactive touchscreen whiteboards:
Marius: “It’s easier to learn because everyone can see it and you can touch it to change things and move up and down.”
Maia: “You can write on it with your finger and you can interact with it.”
Lilyanna: “It’s great for sums because you can do your working out on it and it corrects mistakes easily.”
The fundraising goal for the 2017-18 academic year is to raise funds for new, up-to-date and inspiring classroom furniture for a classroom due for physical expansion and then other classrooms. The classroom currently fits 22 children, however the school would like it to be fit for purpose and comfortably seat 30 pupils with a sink area and cloakroom. Fundraising events will include a Bonfire Night, Christmas Fair, Safari Supper, Sponsored Walk and Summer Fete.
